Sony Ericson Launches Elm Phone
Mobile phone maker Sony Ericsson on Wednesday announced the launch of Elm phone and accessory Bluetooth noise shield handsfree VH700, adding to the company’s green products portfolio. The mobile phone and accessory provides consumers with an expanded range of products to make an educated green environment without compromising on design and functionality, the company said on Wednesday.
Sony Ericsson also announced that the company would make all accessories green compliant by 2011. The Elm phone can block background noise with the help of a noise shield, clear voice and volume adaptation. “Keeping in line with the Communication Entertainment proposition, the phone offers an easy-to-use social networking experience featuring the Widget Manager application, which allows users access their social networking page” said Sony Ericsson Vice President-Marketing (Asia-Pacific) Peter Ang.
IBM wins 10-year IT deal
IT major IBM India has signed a 10-year information technology (IT) services agreement with Sardar Bhiladwala Pardi People’s Cooperative Bank in Gujarat, the company said Monday. ‘The operational expenditure in the pay-as-you-use model will enable the leading cooperative bank to save up to 50% in its capex (capital expenditure) on IT infrastructure,’ IBM said in a statement. As part of the deal, IBM India will provide the 80-year-old bank managed continuity services comprising server management, network and security management and back-up and database management.
Firefox browser for cellphones
Mozilla, the world’s second-largest Internet browser firm, is all set to release its Firefox web browser Fennec for mobile phones next year, in order to compete with existing rivals including Opera Mini, Safari, Chrome, Nokia, Netfront and Internet Explorer for mobile. The war for browser market share is set to be shifted to the mobile market, experts say.
